Acer palmatum 'Shirazz'

Shirazz Japanese Maple

New!

Heat resistant foliage with striking variegation of crimson-pink and white margins. Semi-weeping habit and crimson fall color.

Homeowner Growing & Maintenance Tips

The Japanese Maple includes an incredibly diverse group of exquisite hybrids that vary condiserably in leaf shape from deeply cut lace leaf varieties to the typical Maple leaf. The foliage color can be even more diverse, ranging from light green to burgundy with variegated forms in between. And the growth habit can be anywhere from a 20' shade tree to a weeping variety. This recent introduction from New Zealand comes to North America exclusively through the Novalis network of growers. Unique in its leaf color, Shirazz™, is a complex blend of lovely pinks, greens and creamy-white with new growth emerging as a striking, crimson-pink, with autumn tones of scarlet. A vigorous, upright grower at first, branches become gracefully arching, displaying the uniquely toned foliage to perfection. Shirazz™ has been tested for cold hardiness in the U.S. through zone 5, weathering the cold like a champ! Available in limited supply for the first year only through Independent Garden Centers. You'll be the envy of your neighborhood with Shirazz™ in the landscape! Grow in full sun to part shade farther south.
